Accessibility

Reelio should be usable if you rely on VoiceOver, on larger text, or on reduced motion. This page says how far that is true today — including where it isn’t. We would rather publish an honest list than a reassuring one.

1. The standard we aim at

WCAG 2.2 Level AA, for both the iOS app and this website. That is a target we set ourselves, not a certification: Reelio is run by one person, and no external audit has been carried out.

2. Where we stand

Partially conformant. Some parts meet the standard and some parts have not been checked thoroughly enough for us to claim anything about them.

What has been done

• VoiceOver across the app. The results screen, the score breakdown, the timestamped fixes, the A/B comparison, Trends and Profile were reworked so that meaning carried by colour, icons or layout is also spoken. Strengths, weaknesses and fixes used to read as identical sentences; a timestamped fix used to arrive as three disconnected fragments; Trends rows could be read but not opened at all.
• Dynamic Type. Text that was previously pinned to a fixed point size now scales with your text size setting, up to the largest accessibility sizes, including the onboarding screens and the score rings.
• Reduce Motion is respected on the results screen, which also fixed a real bug: cards that had not yet animated in were reachable by VoiceOver while invisible.
• Contrast. The status colours (ready / needs work / not ready, and the score ring) were measured against the backgrounds they actually sit on and failed AA in light mode. They have been darkened until they pass.

Known limitations

• The VoiceOver work has been written and built, but not yet verified by ear on a physical device.We are confident about the structure and not yet confident about how every label sounds in practice.
• This website has not been formally audited against WCAG 2.2 AA. It is a small static site built with semantic HTML, but that is a reason for optimism, not a test result.
• The subscription screen is rendered by a third party (Superwall) and its accessibility is not fully under our control.
• Video is inherently visual. Reelio analyses footage you upload; the analysis itself is text and is spoken, but we cannot make the source video accessible.

3. Telling us about a barrier

If something is unusable, please email support@reel-io.com with the screen, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology you use. We aim to reply withintwo business days and to tell you either when it will be fixed or that it will not be, rather than letting the message go quiet.

If you need something from Reelio that the app cannot currently give you accessibly, write to the same address and we will try to provide it another way.

4. How this was assessed

By self-evaluation: reading the code, measuring contrast ratios against the actual rendered backgrounds rather than by eye, and running the app in a simulator at the largest accessibility text sizes. No external audit and no formal user testing with assistive-technology users has taken place. This page will be updated as that changes.
